Heres an artist that uses Catholicism and Mexican culture to create his work. His work has a strong play on the Christian icons, and something i want to incorporate in my work, especially the Virgin shrine.
i really love this idea, and the photo documentation of it will touch on many of the issues you were saying. Along with making the masks, making these characters come to life through animation would be very cool to see.
